THE SUNRISE/RIO CALAVERAS JUNIOR ALL-STARS WON THE DISTRICT 8 CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A CONVINCING 18-3 WIN OVER PACIFIC LITTLE LEAGUE ON SUNDAY @ McNAIR HIGH SCHOOL.

THIS JUNIOR TEAM IS MADE UP OF SUNRISE AND RIO PLAYERS AS WE COMBINED OUR JUNIOR PROGRAM THIS YEAR.

RIO CALAVERAS IS WELL REPRESENTED ON THE ALL-STAR TEAM WITH 3 CURRENT RIO PLAYERS (VINCE PIERCEFIELD, LEON RAPISURA & ANTHONY ROWLAND) AND 2 FORMER RIO PLAYERS (R.J. MARTINEZ & MARKUS NAGATOISHI).

THE RIO PLAYERS PLAYED CRUCIAL ROLES IN LEADING THIS TEAM TO THE TITLE AS DID THE FORMER RIO PLAYERS WHO ARE STILL RIO IN OUR MIND.

Great 2008 Baseball Season Rio !

This has been an exciting 2008 baseball season. Our regular season had us all at the edge of our seats. We represented ourselves well at the TOCs. We had close games in both the Minors and Majors and came together as a league. The Juniors are still in it!

So h ow can we raise the bar for next year?

There is not doubt that as a league, we have the passion to play great baseball. But is passion enough? We have some work to do. We need to find new ways to challenge our players to play their best. Never be content! Parents...don't forget your baseball etiquette. We are here for the kids (both home and away teams). You are ambassadors of the game. As ambassadors, you are obligated to demonstrate the finest baseball qualities in the way we play, coach, and support our teams. Think about it. We had some low points we really need to reflect on. Now that we will be approaching the off-season, we have the opportunity to look back and think: How am I going to raise the bar? How am I going to support our league? All-in-all, keep up the good work, keep striving to improve, and never be content! Keys to success: preparation, preparation, and preparation. So prepare and stay tuned for Fall Ball 2008.
